Bicarbonate of soda is very useful around the home. You can use it to deodourise, freshen and clean too. To freshen up a carpet or rug just sprinkle some around the area then leave for 15 minutes, vacuum off to powder. You can even put a little tub of the powder into the fridge and it will catch the smells and lock them away to keep your food smelling fresh too.
